Investing in the Future

TABLE has been providing valuable nutrition education to local children since 2010. Understanding nutrition can help shape the way children view their eating habits and can impact their overall health and wellness. By encouraging children to try new foods and providing them with the opportunities to test out new recipes or learn basic cooking techniques, we seek to equip children with the tools necessary to make educated choices when it comes to food and nutrition so they can live healthy lives.

Chefs@Home is a cooking club for all ages! Each month, every family in our food access program receives a nutrition education kit with a recipe, ingredients, and a fun kid-centered activity.

An example of a meal kit we gave out to families was a recipe for pumpkin pancakes along with all the ingredients, including a small pumpkin, and a fun kids’ activity for them to track the “color” of the foods they ate for a month by putting color-coded stickers on a hand out with a rainbow on it!

Our hope for our Chefs@Home program is that it will be a way for families to try new foods, learn some cooking skills & have fun spending time together in the kitchen. Ultimately, we hope that positive family experiences in the kitchen will help kids try new foods and get them comfortable with cooking and trying a variety of foods that will help them grow!

It’s been fun to hear how parents are reacting to the program (Chefs@Home). One mom even compared it to the “Chopped” TV show!

“I like the diversity of the food recipes you send. My kids were very excited about the Salvadorian recipe & said mom, let’s make this!”
