Joy MacVane

Joy and her husband, UNC alum Ed Calamai, started TABLE with a group of UNC undergraduate students in 2008 as an inclusive “town-gown” venture that would put food directly into the hands of hungry local children. Joy is a United Methodist clergywoman with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She believes that when Jesus said, “Feed the hungry,” he really meant it. Joy served as TABLE’s Executive Director from 2008 – 2013. Joy and Ed live in downtown Chapel Hill with 3 dogs, one cat, and a large green parrot.
